Pre and Post-Op Eye Drops

Your cataract surgery requires eye drops prescribed by your physician before and after surgery. The below details when to take your pre and post-op eye drops.

1. Moxifloxacin HCL or Ciprofloxacin
What: 1 drop in the eye that will have surgery
How Often: 4 times a day
When to Start: 3 days before surgery
When to Stop: 1 week after surgery
Refill: 1 refill with pharmacy


2. Lotemax Gel or Prednisolone
What: 1 drop in the eye that will have surgery
How Often: 4 times a day
When to Start: 3 days before surgery
When to Stop: 4 weeks after surgery
Refill: 2 refills with pharmacy


3. Nevanac or Ketorolac
What: 1 drop in the eye that will have surgery
How Often: 4 times a day
When to Start: 3 days before surgery
When to Stop: 4 weeks after surgery
Refill: 2 refills with pharmacy


Important: Space drops 5 minutes apart and drops order does not matter. Please do not use any drops on the morning of surgery and resume them 4 hours after surgery only in the operative eye.


Note: If you have allergies, you may be prescribed alternative medications. Please follow your pharmacist’s instructions.
